Galiwin'ku Community Festival

The Galiwin'ku Community Festival is a free all-ages public event over two days held in Galiwin'ku, Northeast Arnhem Land, NT.

The Festival blends bunggul (traditional music and dance), live bands, disco and dance competitions with all ages activities.

The Festival has a long history reflecting the centrality of music and dance in Yolŋu culture and celebrating the rich contribution of Yolŋu performers to the arts with a community festival.

The event is held in Galiwin'ku and broadcast live on Yolŋu Radio for homelands residents to enjoy.

Galiwin'ku and East Arnhem Land is Aboriginal land. Commonwealth and Northern Territory law says that entry to Aboriginal land requires a written permit. The Northern Land Council is responsible for administering the permit system for traditional owners.
